I’m told that a popular summer past-time here is to go ballooning, and we’ve seen several gaggles of balloons pass overhead over the past few weeks. We’ve even seen the folks setting up the balloons, to launch them from the sports fields across the street from our apartment building.
Still, it’s a shock to look up and see one going by. I’m guessing our proximity to large fields and park areas means we will see a lot of balloons go by even as the summer wanes — and it is indeed waning. Every other day has at least some rain, and the temperature has dropped. No more shorts for me.
I’m hoping to get up into the air myself one of these days! But it’s expensive, something like the equivalent of $150 an hour for an evening tour. Maybe next summer.
