Maybe we should move to Mexico.

Because it said “Yucatan” in the little blurb on the NYT home page, I found myself perusing the slideshow that goes with this article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/03/greathomesanddestinations/03gh-mexico.html.

Could it be any more fabulous?  How in the world did they find these people?  Maybe it’s all a hoax — models hired to fill in as happy homeowners, deluxe houseware and furniture set up as an ad… it makes me feel so … house poor.

My biggest vintage purchase this week was a glass wine jug from Myrorna, imprinted with “Huset Vin” (House Wine) on the side.  Fabulous!

But of course the NYTimes would feature photogenic ex-models living in tropical locations for a real estate article!

My housemate loves to watch the international real estate shows on cable – the ones where buyers look for homes in exotic, beautiful locations.

Mexico is a very popular place – you can get a lot of house for very little money in US dollars. She fantasizes about moving there with her 77 year old mother (who is wheel-chair ridden and unable to care for herself and these are completely undoable fantasies in a non-handicapped accessible place like Mexico, but what the hey.)
