A précis of the day: visiting the Museum of Old and New Art; a ferry ride; fish’n’chips and great Tasmania cheeses, beer and wine (not all at the same time); As You Like It at the botanical garden. I am pooped!
So, I will add more thoughts later, but for now, the museum was stunning and stunningly bizarre. Read the article in Smithsonian: “Nudity, Art, Sex and Death – Tasmania Awaits You”. It may be even more intense than that. Best part: Kryptos. I will link to my visit when I get the URL; the whole thing is cleverly tracked on an iPod.
The bay boat ride was splendid. The cheeses: savory and delicious – and expensive, particularly with the local wine, but so worthwhile. The play was enjoyable and funny, but wow did it get chilly this evening. Best part may have been the tiny bandicoot that ran across the grass “stage” in the scene where the poor shepherd is sent back to Phoebe.
To top it all off, more pademelons on the lawn when I got home, and a mother and child possum pair at the front entry. Australia is crazy…
